Key note speakers Profiles


Eva Egron-Polak

Eva Egron-Polak is the Secretary-General and Executive Director, International Association of Universities (IAU). She was educated in the Czech Republic, Canada and France. She has over 25 years experience in international cooperation in higher education. Prior to being Secretary-General of IAU, she was the Vice President, International of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC).


Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha

Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha is the Executive Secretary of the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA). He was the founding Secretary to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) in Kenya. Prior to that, he was the Principal Laikipia Campus, Egerton University. He sits in the board of several organizations and has played a significant role in the advancement of higher education in Africa.


Goolam Mohamedbhai

Goolam Mohamedbhai is the Secretary- General of the Association of African Universities (AAU). Prior to this, he was the President of the International Association of Universities (IAU). He is also a member of the Governing Council of United Nations University. He was the Vice Chancellor of University of Mauritius and Chairman of the Regional Scientific Committee for Africa of UNESCO Global Forum on Higher Education, Research and Knowledge.


Rajika Bhandari

Rajika Bhandari is the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Institute of International Education (IIE), USA. She also leads two major research project – Open Doors and Project Atlas that measure international higher education mobility at the domestic (U.S) and international levels. Before joining IIE, she was a Senior Researcher at MPR Associates, an educationa research firm in Berkeley, California.


Dr. Jane Knight

Dr. Jane Knight, Ontario Institute of Education, University of Toronto , focuses her research and professional interests on the international dimension of higher education at the institutional, system, national, and international levels. Her work in over 60 countries with UN Agencies, Universities, Foundations, and Professional Organizations helps to bring a comparative, development and international perspective to her research, teaching and policy work.


Chika Trevor Sehoole

Chika Trevor Sehoole is an Associate Professor of Education Policy at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He has been seconded to the Department of Education as Chief Director responsible for higher education planning and management support. He has published articles in national and international journals on higher education policy, internationalization, globalization and trade in education.


Crispus Kiamba

Crispus Kiamba is the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Kenya. Previously he was the Secretary and Chief Executive of the Commission for Higher Education in Kenya. Prior to this, he served as the Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Kenya.


Margit Schatzman

Margit Schatzman is the President Education Credentials Evaluators, Inc, a non profit, public service organization that provides academic institutions and other organizations with services in foreign credentials evaluation, research and training in international education. Her areas of special interest include international professional qualifications, falsified and altered documents, and credential evaluation.
