Membership
ANIE is a membership based association serving its members, their institutions and organizations, and others engaged in understanding internationalization. The membership is to be drawn from higher education institutions, research organizations, government departments, transnational bodies, other associations and individuals involved in relevant aspects of internationalization of higher education in Africa. Ideally individual members will be scholars especially those interested or specialized on the international dimension of higher education; leaders/executives and administrators of higher education institutions; members from non-governmental organizations with keen interest in internationalization of education; educational quality assurance officers; curriculum development organizations; and those studying and researching on different aspects of internationalization; among others.
ANIE Board of Directors (BoD) may select members as described above provided they are committed to the objects of the Association as described in its Strategic Plan and under the conditions identified in ANIE’s Constitution. Application for membership must be made on the Application Form below.
Membership categories
- Student Member - any person who is officially enrolled in a tertiary education institution. Proof of enrollment is required
- Full Member - any individual person employed in the higher education sector and who has interests in the goals and objectives of ANIE.
- Institutional Member - any local, national, international institution that has an interest/or supports higher education will be represented by a designated individual as follows:
* Each Institutional Member shall be entitled to appoint a representative and an alternate. The names of the representative and the alternate shall be notified in writing to the Secretary of the Association, and no appointment shall be effective until it has been approved in writing by Board of Directors.
* The representative or the alternate of an Institutional Member shall be entitled to attend, speak, and vote at any meeting of the Association open to Individual Members, and to receive notices and circulars sent to Individual Members.
- Associate/Affiliate Member - any organization that has similar goals and objectives as ANIE and offers reciprocal membership and commitment to information sharing. These are partners from whom ANIE can draw benefits by association.
Annual Membership Fees
There shall be payable to the funds of the Association an annual subscription (differentiated in respect of the categories identified above) as shall be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors and ratified by the General Assembly meeting of the association. Any Individual Member who has attained the age of sixty and is not in full-time employment or professional practice shall be entitled upon notifying the Secretary in writing of these facts to have his/her annual subscription reduced to half the normal amount. If it thinks fit, the Board of Directors may alter the amount of the annual subscription payable by any category of membership. Not fewer than sixty days’ notice of such change shall be given to each member affected.
