Internationalization in African Higher Education

Network of Emerging Scholars on Internationalization (NESI) of Higher Education

By James Otieno Jowi and Elizabeth Ayalew

The establishment of the Network of Emerging Scholars on Internationalization (NESI) is a significant recent development in the internationalization of higher education in Africa. Within the framework of the newly established African Network for the Internationalization of Education (ANIE), there is a provision for the formation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that will work towards attaining the broader objectives of ANIE. NESI is the first Special Interest Group of ANIE and has the broad aim of developing the research capacity to investigate the different dimensions, rationales and implications of internationalization in Africa.
